Created by French sculptor Pierre Vivant, this majestic traffic light tree stands eight meters tall and consists of 75 groups of computer-controlled traffic lights.
The sculpture blends in with the surrounding plane tree landscape and reflects the constant rhythm of the financial and commercial activities of Canary Wharf through changing light patterns.

Installed in 1998, replacing a plane tree that suffered from pollution, the Traffic Light Tree quickly became an icon!
Although some motorists were initially confused, mistaking the traffic lights for real signals, the Traffic Light Tree soon won the hearts of both tourists and residents.
In December 2011, the Traffic Light Tree was removed from its original location, but fortunately, in November 2013, it found a new home at the Trafalgar Way roundabout, facing the Billingsgate Market.
Since then, the Traffic Light Tree continues to fascinate and enchant visitors from around the world!
